Serine and glycine


Glycolate formed in the chloroplasts moves into peroxisomes where they react with oxygen and form glyoxylate. The glyoxylate is aminated and gives rise to glycine. Glycine is then transported from peroxisome to mitochondria where two molecules of glycine interact to form one molecule of each serine, carbon dioxide and ammonia.
