The area of a trapezium is 34cm2 and the length of the parallel sides is 10cm and its height is 4cm. Find the length of the other parallel side.

Let the required other side =xcm
Area of the trapezium =12× (sum of parallel sides) × (Height)
34cm2=12×(10+x)×4cm2
or,2×344cm2=10+x
or,10+x=17
x=1710=7cm
Hence, the required other side=7cm.
