The area of a triangle varies as its base and height. The area of a triangle having base 6 cm. and height 4 cm is 12sq.cm. Find the height of the triangle whose base is 8 cm and area is 36 sq.cm

Let A denote the area of the triangle, b denote the base of the triangle and h denote the height of the triangle.Thus, we have:A α bh A= kbh k is a constant.Now,When A=12 sq cm, b=6 cm and h =4 cm: 12=k×6×4 k=126×4 k=12Thus the equation of variation becomes A=12bh. Now, When A=36 sq cm and b=8 cm:36 =12×8×h h=36×28 h=9 cm
