The area of four walls of a room is 120 m2. If the length of the room is twice its breadth and the height is 4 m, find the area of the floor.

Open in App
Solution

Let the breadth of the room be x m.
Length of the room = 2x m
Area of the four walls = {2(l + b) × h} sq. units
120 m2 = {2(2x + x) × 4} m2
⇒ 120 = {8 × 3x }
⇒ 120 = 24x
⇒ x =12024 = 5
∴ Length of the room = 2x = (2 × 5) m = 10 m
Breadth of the room = x = 5 m
∴ Area of the floor = l × b = (10 m × 5 m) = 50 m2
