time taken by sound wave to reach to other child through metal rod ,
time=distance/speed ,
tm=l/vm=(l/6420) second , (given ,vm=6420m/s) ,
time taken by sound wave to reach to other child through air ,
time=distance/speed ,
ta=l/va=(l/340) second , (we have ,va=340m/s) ,
dividing ta by tm , we get
ta/tm=6420/340=18.88 ,
or ta:tm=18.88:1
