In electrolytic solutions, the electric carriers are not electrons like in metals but the electricity is carried through charged ions which are produced by decomposition.
For example water doesn’t conduct electricity but when we add common salt (NaCl) , it exists in water as Na+ and Cl ions which actually carry the electricity.
