Basically a slip ring in an AC generator allows the transmission of electric current from a stationary to a rotating structure. A generator having slip rings produces a current that continuously changes direction. Current in the opposite direction is taken as a negative current. Hence, the value of current will have a continuous change in its sign. Thus, graph(2) shows the variation of current with time.
