If the pressure of the gas at X is 4.0 kPa, and the volume is 6.0 m3, and if the pressure at Y is 8.0 kPa, what is the volume of the gas at Y?

Solution

The correct option is D 3.0 m3 

Given : Px=4.0 kPa          
            Vx=6.0  m3                        
            Py=8.0 kPa 

X to Y is an isothermal process, thus temperature remains constant, i.e  T=constant  or   PV=constant

PyVy=PxVx

  8.0×Vy=4.0×6.0
                   
Vy=3.0  m3
