According to the graph, Fext>Fcom for same x
Thus more force is required to elongate the rubber. Hence it is easier to compress the rubber than to expand it.

Also x=0 for F=0 (during compression)
This state that the rubber will come to its original state when the applied force is removed.

Area enclosed in the x-F graph gives the work done of the process.
From the graph, the net work done W>0 which heats up the rubber band.
