Solution

Answer :

(a) Two atoms of A can form a covalent bond between them by sharing two electrons from each atom. This allows them to complete their octets and get stabilised. The molecule so formed is A=A.
(b) Atoms A and B may react to form an ionic bond by transfer of two electrons from two atoms of B to form an ionic compound AB2.
