The haploid nucleus of a sperm and that of the ovum fuse togehter to form a diploid zygote in the fallopian tube.
The mitotic division starts as the zygote moves through the isthmus of the oviduct called cleavage towards the uterus and forms 2, 4, 6, 8, 16 daughter cells called blastomeres.
The embryo at 16 celled stage is called the morula. The morula develops into a fluid filled sphere of cells called blastula. Blastula gastrulates to form embryonic tissue layers and gastrula.
