The floor of a rectangular hall is to be covered with a carpet $0.75\text{m}$ wide . If the length and breadth of the hall is $18\text{m}$ and $15\text{m}$ respectively . Find the cost of the carpet at $₹6$ per meter ?

Finding the cost of the carpet

Length of the hall is $=18\text{m}$

Breadth of the hall is $=15\text{m}$

So,

Area of the hall $=\text{length×breadth}$

$$\begin{gathered} \text{=18×15} \\ \text{=270 sq.m} \end{gathered}$$

According to the question, floor is to be covered with carpet. So,

Area of the carpet $=$ Area of the rectangular hall

Therefore, area of the carpet $=270\text{sq.m}$

But area $=\text{length×width}$

Width of the carpet $=0.75\text{m}$

So, length $=\frac{\text{area}}{\mathrm{Width}}$

$$\begin{gathered} \text{=}\frac{\text{270}}{0.75} \\ \text{=360 m} \end{gathered}$$ $(\frac{270}{75}\times 100=\frac{270}{\sout{75}}\times \sout{100}=90\times 4=360)$

Cost of the carpet per meter $=$$₹6$

Cost of the carpet of length $360\text{m}$$=360\times ₹6=₹2160$

Hence, cost of the carpet is $₹2160$ .
