Fundamental formula of workdone by a force (having constant direction) is:
W=F ds

hence, W= area under the (F vs S) graph.

Work done by force in moving the body from
(x=3 m) to (x=7 m)= will be area under the curve between (x=3 m) to (x=7 m)
W=(2×1)+(12×(2+4)×2)+(4×1)
W=2+6+4=12 J
