Question

The length of a rectangular field is $$10$$ meters more than its breadth. If its perimeter is $$52$$ meters, what are the length and the breadth of the field?

Solution

Let the breadth be x, then length $$=x+10$$
Perimeter $$=2(l+b)$$
$$\Rightarrow 52=2(x+x+10)$$
$$\Rightarrow 26=2x+10$$
$$\Rightarrow 16=2x$$
So $$x=8$$
$$x+10=18$$
Length, Breadth $$=18, 8$$.
