A figure is said to have a line of symmetry or linear symmetry if there exists a line which divides the figure into two identical halves such that they coincide when folded along this line.

The line of symmetry can be vertical, horizontal or diagonal. But here, if folded along this line the two halves do not coincide perfectly. Hence AB is not a line of symmetry. The line of symmetry for a rectangle is shown below :
