Line with equal intercept from the axes is of the form $\frac{x}{a}+\frac{y}{a}=1$
Since this line passes through (1, −2)

$$\begin{gathered} \mathrm{i}.\mathrm{e}.\frac{1}{a}-\frac{2}{a}=1 \\ \mathrm{i}.\mathrm{e}.\frac{-1}{a}=1 \\ \mathrm{i}.\mathrm{e}.a=-1 \end{gathered}$$
∴ equation of line is –x –y = 1
i.e. x + y + 1 = 0
