Question

The position of the triangular flag changed from 1 to 2. Identify the transformation that happened.

Open in App
Solution

We know that rotation involves turning an object at a particular angle considering a fixed point as the center of rotation. The number of degrees a figure rotates is known as the angle of rotation.
So we can say that the transformation that happened from flag 1 to flag 2 is rotation.
In the given figure, flag 1, i.e., \(\Delta ABC\) is turned clockwise at an angle of \(270^\circ\) about the origin and transformed to
\(\Delta A' B' C'\).

Similarly, the same figure of \(\Delta A' B' C'\) can be obtained if \(\Delta ABC\) is turned counterclockwise at an angle of \(90^\circ\) about the origin.
So, the correct answer from the given option is that the transformation involved is rotation at an angle of \(270^\circ\) in the clockwise direction about the origin.
