Question

The price of the muffin increases from $$Rs\;4$$ to $$Rs\;5$$. What is the percentage increases.

Solution

The old price of muffin$$=$$Rs. $$4$$

the new price of muffin$$=$$Rs. $$5$$

Percentage increased $$=\dfrac{new\,\, price -old \,\,price}{old\,\,price}\times 100$$

$$=\dfrac{5-4}{4}\times 100$$

$$=\dfrac{1}{4}\times 100$$

$$=25\%$$

$$\therefore$$ Price of muffin increased by $$25\%$$.
