When the number of children increases, the number of days for which the provisions last will decrease. This is a case of inverse proportion.

So,Number of children(x)1Days(y)
x1x2 = y2y1

Given,
x1 = 800 children
y1 = 60 days
x2 = (800 + 400) = 1200 children
and y2 = number of days

y2 = x1 × y1x2

y2 = 800 × 601200 = 40 days
