the ratio in which YZ plane divides the line segment formed by joining the points (-2,4,7) and (3,-5,8)


Solution

Let $$P \equiv \left( {o,h,s} \right)$$ be the point at which $$yz$$ plane interest  above point 

$$\left[ {\because \,x - coordinate = 0\,in\,yz\,plane} \right]$$

also let the ratio be $$K:1$$

$$0 = \dfrac{{ - 2K + 3}}{{K + 1}}$$

$$ \Rightarrow  - 2K + 3 = 0$$

$$ \Rightarrow K = \dfrac{{ - 3}}{{ - 2}} = \dfrac{3}{2}$$

$$\therefore $$ Required ratio is $$3:2$$
