Find :
(a) If A lives at a distance of 4km then B will live at a distance.
(b) If B lives at a distance of 9km then A will live at a distance.
(c) If A lives at a distance of 8km then B will live at a distance.
(d) If B lives at a distance of 8km then A will live at a distance.
(e) If A lives at a distance of 6km then B will live at a distance.

Solution

Let A’s home is 2xkm from school and B’s home is xkm
Hence,
A’s home distance from school: B’s home distance from school =2:1
(A’s home distance from school) / (B’s home distance from school) =21
A’s home distance from school =2× B’s home distance from school
(a) So if A lives at a distance of 4km then B will live at a distance of =12×4
=2km
(b) So if B lives at a distance of 9km then A will live at a distance of =2×9
=18km
(c) So if A lives at a distance of 8km then B will live at a distance of =12×8
=4km
(d) So if B lives at a distance of 8km then A will live at a distance of =2×8
=16km
(e) So if A lives at a distance of 6km then B will live at a distance of =12×6
=3km
