Solution

The correct option is A 1 January 1992
Until 1992, the Public Distribution System (PDS) was the same for everyone in the country. But it was not effective as the poor and rich received equal benefits. The poor needed more support in achieving food security. And so, on 1 January 1992, the Government of India introduced a new scheme to revamp PDS. This proved to be more effective, and it was called the Revamped Public Distribution System or RPDS.
