The shape of the garden is rectangular in the middle and semicircular at the ends as shown in the diagrams. Find the area and the perimeter of this garden.

Given:

$\Rightarrow D=7m$

$\therefore$ $R=3.5m$

$\Rightarrow$Combined circumference of semi circles $=2\pi R=2\times \frac{22}{7}\times 3.5=22$ m

$\Rightarrow$Length $=20-3.5-3.5=13$

$\Rightarrow$Perimeter $=13+22+13=48$ m

$\Rightarrow$Area $=13\times 7+\frac{22}{7}\times {3.5}^2=129.5$ sq metres
