The solution of $(x + 4)^{2} - (x - 5)^{2} = 9$ is
$\Rightarrow x^{2} + 8 x + 16 - (x^{2} - 10 x + 25) = 9$
$\Rightarrow 18 x - 9 = 9$
$\Rightarrow 18 x = 18$
$\Rightarrow x = 1$
