Let the three consecutive multiples of 3 be 3x, 3(x + 1) and 3 ( x + 2), i.e. 3x + 3 and 3x + 6
Given, 3x +3x + 3 + 3x +6 = 72
$\Rightarrow$ 9x + 9 = 72 $\Rightarrow$ 9x=63 $\Rightarrow$ x =7
$\therefore$ Largest multiple of 3 = 3 (x + 2) =3 (7 + 2)
=3 x 9 = 27
