The sum of two fraction is $\frac{5}{8}$. One fraction is greater by $1$ that the other fraction. What are the two fraction.

Let one fraction $=x$

Let other fraction $=y$

According to problem

$x+y=\frac{5}{8}$ ......(i)

$x+1=y$ ......(ii)

Put equation (ii) in equation (i)

$x+x+1=\frac{5}{8}$

$2x=\frac{5}{8}-1=\frac{-3}{8}$

$x=\frac{-3}{16}$

Put value of $x$ in equation (ii)

$y=\frac{13}{16}$

$\therefore$ One fraction $=\frac{-3}{16}$, other fraction $=\frac{13}{16}$
