Let one number be x and the other number be y

x + y = 4 + 2(x - y) [given]

$\Rightarrow$ x + y = 4 + 2x - 2y

$\Rightarrow$ x - 3y + 4 = 0 ------------(i)

x = 3 + y -----------(ii) [given]

Substitute (ii) in (i), (3 + y) - 3y + 4 = 0

$\Rightarrow$ y = $\frac{7}{2}$
