Neap Tides occur after seven days after Spring tides. During Neap tides the Sun and the Moon are at the right angle to each other which produces moderate tides. Neap tides occur every month during the first and third quarter moon when the moon appears half full.

Spring tides occur when there is a new and full moon. During this period the gravitational pull of the sun is supplemented to the gravitational pull of the moon on Earth. As a result of this, there's an increase in the height of the high tide.
