v2-u2=2aL

Step 4: Calculation :

Let us consider the length of the train to be L.

The train is moving with constant acceleration.

The initial velocity is u, At the end velocity is 3u.

Using v2-u2=2aL

9u2=u2+2aL8u2=2aL

Hence a=4u2L

When the train has covered the L/2 distance; the velocity is

v2=u2+2×4u2L×L2v2=u2+4u2v=5u
