Given u=30 ms1

From figure above, the acceleration a = slope of line AB =30 ms13 s=10 ms2
The maximum height is reached when final velocity v=0. Using the value of u,v and a in relation
v2u2=2as, we get
0302=2×(10)×s
or s=30×3020=45 m
Hence the correct choice is (b).
