To extinguish a fire, we need to cut the supply of oxygen from the combustible substance. Other than removing the combustible substance, we can use the following methods to extinguish the fire:

(i) We can use water to extinguish the small and short-range fire.
(ii) We can also use a CO2 extinguisher to put out the heavy fire or fire started due to oils. CO2 extinguisher uses carbon dioxide gas to cut the supply of oxygen from the combustible substance.
