Solution

The correct option is B 1 cm down
Two masses m1 and m2 are kept in verticle line
m1=10kg m2=30kg
y1=7cm y2=?

The centre of mass raised by 1cm
centre of mass = m1y1+m2y2m1+m2

1 = 10×7+30×y210+30

40=70+30y2
y2=1
So, m2=30kg body should be displaced 1cm downward ,so as to raise the centre of mass through 1cm

so the correct answer is (B)
