Let the two electric heater wires are connected to the supply E.

When both the wires are connected in series combination, the net resistance is:

Heat generated in time t is:
Hs=E2Rs=E22R.......(i)

When both the wires are connected in parallel combination, the net resistance is:
Rp=R2

Heat generated in time t is:
Hp=E2Rp=2E2R.....(ii)

From (i) and (ii),
