Question

Two identical coaxial circular loops carry current i each circulating in the clockwise direction. If the loops are approaching each other, then:

Your Answer
A
The net current in each loop increases.
Your Answer
B
The net current in each loop remains the same.
Correct Answer
C
The net current in each loop decreases.
Your Answer
D
The net current in one loop increases but it decreases in the other.

Solution

The correct option is C The net current in each loop decreases.
According to Lenz's law, the induced current will appear in such a direction that it opposes the changes in the magnetic flux in the coil. When the two loops approach each other, the induced current will be in anti-clockwise direction. Therefore, the net current in both the loops would decrease.
