Question

Two metallic spheres of radii r1 and r2 having charge q1 and q2 initially. if two spheres are connected by metallic wire then how charge distributes between two spheres.

Open in App
Solution

As the sphere are connected by a thin wire, their electric potentials are same

so, redistribution of charge takes place.

here using the logic of charge density we can say σα1r;surfacechargedensityforsphere

As we know, Va=VbKQ1r1=KQ2r2

σ1r21r1=σ2r22r2

σr=constant

more is the curvature lesser will be the charge density.
