Step 1: Equivalent resistance for series connection
Let the resistances be R1 and R2.
Rs=R1+R2
9=R1+R2
R1=9R2 ......(1)

Step 2: Equivalent resistance for parallel connection
Rp=R1R2R1+R2
2=R1R2R1+R2 ......(2)

Step 3: Solving Equations
Put the value of R1 from (1) in equation (2)
2=(9R2)R29

R229R2+18=0
(R26)(R23)=0
R2=6Ω or R2=3Ω

From equation (1)
R1=3Ω or R1=6Ω
