Solution

The correct option is B 7.5R
Let the sphere collide after time t.
when the smaller sphere covered the distance x1 and bigger sphere covered distance x2
The gravitational force acting between 2 sphere depends on the distance which is a variable quantity.
The gravitational force f(x)=Gm×5m(12Rx)2

Acceleration of smaller body, a1(x)=G5m(12Rx)2

Acceleration of Bigger Body, a2(x)=Gm(12Rx)2

From the equation of motion
x1=12a1(x)t2 and x2=12a2(x)t2

x1x2=a1a2(x)(x)=5x1=5x2

x1+x2=9R

x1+x15=9R

x1=45R6=7.5R
Smaller sphere covered a distance of 7.5R before collision.
