Sublimation is defined as the transition of a substance directly from the solid state to the gaseous state without going through the intermediate liquid state.

Example:- As a mixture of ammonium chloride and sodium chloride is heated in an inverted funnel, ammonium chloride starts to sublime as it is volatile.
