Question 8 Water is flowing at the rate of 15 km/h through a pipe of diameter 14 cm into a cuboidal pond which is 50 m long and 44 m wide. In what time will the level of water in pond rise by 21 cm?

Solution
Given, length of the pond = 50 m. Width of the pond = 44 m.
Depth required of water =21cm=21100m (1m=100cm)
∴ Volume of water in the pond =l×b×h=(50×44×21100)=462m3
Also, given radius of the pipe =7cm=7100m
Speed of water flowing through the pipe =(15×1000)=15000mh−1 (1km= 1000m)
