The underground water can be taken out by digging a well into the ground, it is called as well water.
When it rains, the water fills up the lakes and ponds. Some water gets absorbed by the soil and ground and the remaining water penetrates the ground which adds to the groundwater level. This groundwater becomes the source of water for wells. So, wells are fed by groundwater.
