Ellingham diagram : The graph plotted ΔG against TK for the formation of oxide is called as Ellingham diagram.
(a) The graph for the formation of metal oxide is a straight line with an upward slope.
(b) There is sudden change in the slope of some metal oxides such as MgO, ZnO and HgO.
(c) For a few metal oxides of mercury and silver the graph is at the upper part in the Ellingham diagram (AgO and HgO).
