Ellingham diagram : The graph plotted $\Delta G$ against $TK$ for the formation of oxide is called as Ellingham diagram.

(a) The graph for the formation of metal oxide is a straight line with an upward slope.
(b) There is sudden change in the slope of some metal oxides such as $MgO$, $ZnO$ and $HgO$.
(c) For a few metal oxides of mercury and silver the graph is at the upper part in the Ellingham diagram ($AgO$ and $HgO$).
