What are methanogens? Name the animals they are present in and the role they play there.

A group of anaerobic bacteria which produces methane in large amount are called as methanogens. They are usually presents in the rumen of cattle and intestine of humans. Methanogens in intestines digest the cellulosic part of food and release methane with carbon dioxide and hydrogen gas.
