What are monsoon winds and how are they formed? [3 MARKS]

Open in App
Solution

Monsoon winds: 1 Mark
Formation: 2 Marks

Monsoon winds are just like land and sea breezes caused by differential heating during summer and winter, except that they are on a large continental-scale instead of just being in the coastal regions. They are most prevalent in countries in Asia especially the subcontinents of India, China, Japan and Southeast Asia.
The winds from the ocean carry water and bring rain. This is a part of the water cycle.
