Explain each of them in one or two sentences.

Solution:
  • The pores or the small holes allow the water to seep through the soil and get into these rocks.These pores may or may not be connected. Such rocks with pores are called porous rocks.
  • Sandstone is an example of porous rocks.
  • The rocks which have connected pores and allow water to pass between them. This type of rocks are called permeable rocks or pervious rocks.
  • The compact rocks which do not have the pores, these rocks do not allow water to enter or pass through them. Hence, they are referred to as impermeable rocks or impervious rocks.
  • Granite is an example of impervious rocks and they are mostly found in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
