Question

What are the 6 components of DNA?

Open in App
Solution

DNA:

  1. DNA is a self-replicating genetic substance found in all living organisms.
  2. Deoxyribonucleic acid, or DNA, is a kind of nucleic acid.
  3. A nitrogen base, a sugar group, and a phosphate group make up nucleotides.
  4. This structure is supported by sugar.
  5. Adenine (A), Thymine (T), Guanine (G), and Cytosine (C) are the four nitrogen bases (C).
  6. With each other, the nitrogen bases form a unit known as a "base pair," with A pairing with T and C pairing with G.
  7. Thus, the six components of DNA are deoxyribose sugar, phosphate, and four nitrogenous bases, i.e. adenine, guanine, thymine, and cytosine.
