Solution
Neuron or nerve cell is the fundamental unit of the nervous system. The major function of the neuron is to receive and integrate the incoming signal and then based on that transfer signal to other neurons, muscles or glands.
Based on function, neurons are generally classified into three;
Sensory/ Afferent neurons, that receive signals from receptors and transfer it to Central Nervous System (CNS).
Motor/ Efferent neurons, that receive signals from CNS and transfer it to effector organs.
Relay neurons, that are found in CNS and enables the communication between afferent and efferent neurons.
