Solution

Carbon compounds:

  • The chemical substances that consist of carbon atoms are known as Carbon compounds.
  • Generally, Carbon is bonded to other atoms/elements by covalent bonding.
  • The basic form of carbon compound is Methane CH4.

Properties of Carbon C:

  • The valency of carbon is four, thus it can form covalent bonds with other atoms/elements. This property is known as tetravalency.
  • Carbon has the ability to form long chains when it gets linked with other carbon atoms. This property is known as Catenation.
  • Carbon can form single/double/triple bonds.
