Applications of biotechnology are as follows-

(a) Brewing industry: Fermentation in alcoholic beverages like beer, wine etc.

(b) Antibiotics: These are the substances produced by some microbes that help in increasing the immunity to human which are toxic to other microbes.

(c) Organic acids: Acetic acid is used for vinegar production.

(d) Vaccines: Vaccines confer immunity against specific disease. They act as antigens and stimulate the body to manufacture antibody.

(e) Monoclonal antibodies: These are the antibodies produced by cloned cells. Monoclonal antibodies are used for the treatment of cancer.
