What constitutes the central nervous system? How are the components of central nervous system protected? What are the constituents of peripheral nervous systems?
The constituents of central nervous system (CNS) are the brain and the spinal cord. The brain sits inside a fluid-filled balloon-like structure for shock absorption and this entire set-up is protected by hard bony skull. The spinal cord is protected by vertebral column, a hard, bony structure.
The peripheral nervous system (PNS) contains all the nerves in our body that lie outside of the spinal cord and brain.
