Solution

  1. An echo is a reflection of sound that is heard by the observer with some delay after the sound is released from the source.
  2. This delay in reaching sound is directly proportional to the distance of the echoing surface from the observer point.
  3. This phenomenon is used in some devices like SONAR and RADAR.
  4. SONAR, A sound navigation and ranging system is a device that uses the phenomenon of echo to determine various parameters.
  5. SONAR uses the echo technique to estimate the position of enemy ships and planes.
  6. It also estimates any hurdles in the way of ships moving in oceans.
  7. SONAR is also used as a depth finder in oceans and seas.
  8. It is also installed on airplanes to estimate and calculate the distance of other airplanes.
  9. The sound which is produced by the transmitter of the SONAR returns back after the echo is produced and the data is being fetched.
